Relay and heat question

I went to start my 91 Runner this afternoon and it turns over but won't start. This morning when it was cooler it started fine.

It's about 96 in the shade here, and this one is sitting on the blacktop. I rolled the windows down and am waiting to see if maybe it's a heat related thing.

I had a similar problem with an early '90's Honda Accord, and was wondering if it might be the main relay with the same loose solder connection problem the Hondas had.

Any thoughts?

Cold start switch....are you throwing a CEL?

Nope...

No check engine light.

I looked thru the factory manual last night. The troubleshooting procedure for the FI points to the relay, or an ignition problem.

For about $20 I can get a new FI relay, so I guess I'll start there.
