I've been looking since I purchased my runner back in January for the infamous sport hood. I finally caught my break yesterday, I decided to check car-part.com and found a black 99 runner with a sport hood for sale in Milawaukee, Wisconsin. So naturally I couldn't wait and took the day off from work today and the rest is history.

I picked it up for $180 and it looks amazing just needs a good buffing and wax job done. I think the scoop added at least 5hp haha. Enjoy the pics?

Looks great man. I also like the black bumpers and grill. I can't wait to get all the chrome off of mine too. How did you do the grill?

Thanks guys I'm very pleased with the look. The only thing I'm upset about in my build up is my choice in tire size. Especially after my OME lift I'll be installing next week. I think the 265/75 are going to look skinny on it and not fill it out right. I wish I would've got 285 or something like that.

Your ride is a 99? It looks.. different somehow- but has that fat lip bumper.

I think it is the clear corners and turn signal lenses that really set it off- I don't see too many of the black grilles out here either grayghost.

Very nice- so you swapped hoods basically or did you not have to give up yours?

not trying to be nosy-I want to set this up for meself one of these days....

It is a 99. I do love that fat lip bumper but I think the clear corners help it out alot too.

I still have my original hood and I'm looking to sell it if your interested.
 
I'm sure his truck originally had a scooped hood since only the Highlander/Sport model has the color keyed grill and his is exactly like mine only in black including lenses but his has the tinted emblem package.

Ronmaiden what are you saying-? he had the scoop hood and then someone swapped it out and now it is back to what it originally had? what on earth would posess....

I am still lurking the parking lots around town lookin for yours- so I can swipe it!:biggrin2:
 
Yes, that is a nice looking 99! It is not just the grill that makes it look like a true highlander (as this may be easy to paint?) but the color-keyed bumpers and the 5 spoke ltd wheels indicated it as a Highlander model. I notice that he is missing the fogs too though which would have been standard eq. Now that I revisit the pics it looks like only one fog lamp is missing, hard to tell with the contrast of the pics.

you have a good eye. I really think someone stole my passenger side fog lamp like the night before I took the pics. Ofcourse it had to happen after I put on the PIAA's all around. So now I have to find an OEM fog lamp for it.

It has been a bit of struggle to get the runner back to its original glory. Pearl black emblems, sport Scoop which I know many of you know how difficult it can be to get those two items alone. But I'm proud to say I was able to get them and at a decent price.

I believe my runner came with a sport hood but for whatever reason was changed out.

My runner originally came with the gold emblem package I actually replaced them with the pearl black emblems.
