Trying to fit a bigger stereo and decided to relocate climate controls below stereo slot. I've haven't seen any write ups so I will attempt to help anyone out. The goal is to fit an Alpine ILX 509 with dual cameras and wireless android auto.

Here is what we are working with an 2002 toyota 4runner. Climate control cables easily extend and move.

Interesting! Our radios are a bit low on the console.

I might suggest finding a crap/broken center piece to practice on instead of cutting into your stock center piece.

Main hang I see is that climate control and HU mount to the bracket behind
them, not the trim piece. So the mounts have to be modified one way or another,
not to mention the trim piece itself.

Anyway, here's someone's work I think I pulled off here way back.

I am waiting on parts to be delivered so I can start test fitting. I am hoping to get this finished up by next week.

Maybe it's too expensive to 3d print a new center dash console. I can understand moving the climate controls. As the information clusters and radios on newer rigs are a lot higher. :)

Here is the fit so far.. I am not sure its worth the trouble of relocating the climate controls. Instead I am going to create a custom mount on the dash above the vents

So just FYI the pioneer 7600NEX and 8600NEX can use a cable adapter that lets you mount it anywhere. Absolute godsend for our trucks.
