So I bought my 4runner over the summer and the guy who owned it before me lost the remote entry:bash:. There are two remotes for my year and I hope to god its the cheaper one since the expensive one used is close to 60 bucks. I will be checking my vin number for the key code soon.
Then it got me thinking about the remote entry part of the system. I dont care much about not being able to put the rear window down IF I can at least unlock or lock my vehicle from the system. SO...... I would like to get a different key that has the lock, unlock, trunk release(which we dont have but it would be cool) and alarm all on the key itself.
Example key

I would like to see if anyone has ever switched from the keyless remote to a keyless remote type key like pictured above. I understand about the key transponder and that will come into play but I am not sure how hard it is to program these badboys.
Anyone work at toyota or a locksmith?
