Remote keyless entry

I have an 02 4Runner Sport Edition. I bought it used from a dealership. It's in excellent shape and has great miles (84,000). I'm loving it.

However when I bought it I only received one key. Now that winter is upon us, I'd really like to have a keyless entry. How do I find out if my 4Runner had factory keyless entry?

Also if mine did not have a factory keyless entry option, what options do I have?

call the dealerships parts departmend with the vin they should be able to tell you, i recently bought an 00 sr5 from a dealership no keyfob, called toyota they tell me 150 for a replacement + more to hook it up....

you can look under the dash to see if it has an alarm box installed.

On my '02 there is a small unit under the hood that chirps when you use the fob.
It's in the back corner on the passenger side and looks like this..

I purchased the remote with the rear window button from ebay. Works great now!

OK so I popped my hood and I have this exact item on the passenger side of my engine compartment. So you are saying that with this item there it's safe to assume that my 4R had keyless entry from the factory?

All I have to do now is order a new fob off of ebay and program it to work with my truck and I should be good to go?

btw i found the keyfob!! ahha!!! another user on here told me the part number.....makes it alooot easier to find google,ebay so on this : hyq1512y

I had to do the program procedure twice, but everything worked the second time. Lock, Unlock and rear window. Hard to believe it was so easy.
