Removable Doors

I know it won't be easy, but is it even possible?

There's always that one guy that has a picture of the crazy mods, hopefully this is no exception.

I think it was Doc2012 that has half doors, maybe there was a hinge mod that went with them...

Removable doors are easy.

Problem comes in with the style of the truck.

Hence why I made half doors.

Hopefully I will be rocking some tube doors. If I do I will end up having a quick release kit.

I was half asleep when I replied last night, but I'll offer some more insight here.

The problem with running doorless is 2 fold.

1) We don't have a "tub" style body. Anything on the floor will roll right out, and then you'd be up shits creek if it was something you needed. Also, the length of the body, and the "aerodynamic" design of the vehicle makes for a LOT of wind in the cab with the doors off, so anything loose is going to get flung up and around. think of driving with all your windows open. Any bags or anything you have get sucked out and blown away.

2) They don't make mirror relocation brackets for Toyotas. IDK about your particular state, but I know in NC, if the vehicle came with mirrors, it has to keep the mirrors.

The reason I made the half doors is for those two reasons.

I usually pack a lunch, and have some gear on the back floor of my rig, within easy reach.

Yeah, i can put it in the back, but then if SHTF, I can't get to it easily.

Look in my build thread for how I made the doors, and what I did to make them easily removable. takes me about 30 minutes to take them off, and put the half doors on. Which isn't bad, considering how heavy the *****es are, and what all you have to do to get to the wiring that needs to be disconnected.

If you've got any questions, feel free to PM me.

Since the OP had his question answered, I'm doing a little hijack here, if anyone in Colorado is looking for some door shells to make half doors, pm me. These are the shells only. Couple dents on the passenger front door, but other than that, they are in good pretty good shape.

How much were you thinking?

so will trail gears tube doors fit out 4Runners? A set just popped up locally and thinking of pulling the trigger.

I haven't tried it but was told buy someone on TW that the Tacoma doors are acouple inches longer and the tube doors he had wouldn't fit his buddies 4Runner. Like I said. I haven't tried it personally just going off his word
