Remove Roof Rails- BBow to?

I've got a 2017 Trail Premium in black and want to paint the chrome roof rails black. Any suggestions on how to remove them?

It's super easy. Just be gentle when prying on the cap ends the I think it's 8 13mm bolts.

I searched but thanks for your helpful comment. I specified my year and model because most of the search results I saw were from older models. Ill go ahead and apologize for the mispelling in the title of my post since I might assume this is the type of thing that would aggravate you.

Good post with exactly the info I was looking for. Just got a 2016 white SR5 with all trim and emblems already blacked out except for the silver factory roof rails. I wanted to paint those matte black as well to match the rest of the truck. I will be installing a black Yakima timberline roof rack system for my kayaks shortly, so wanted to remove and paint the side rails first. Thanks!

Mastic tape around the plastic tubes. The bolts still have red loctite on them.
