Removed your running boards?? I need them please.

I'm planning a big cross country road trip this summer and my parents will be coming. They are not thrilled about getting in and out of the lifted 4Runner so I need some running boards to make it easier for them.

Soooo, if any of you awesome 3rd gen owners have got them lying around still and are willing to part with them for some cash, please let me know.
I need the ones that suit the chrome fender flare trim, like these.

You could have mine but they are for the black fender flares - plus I'm nowhere near Pittsburgh.

It would be easier and cheaper to just get a cheap step stool and carry it in your vehicle.

Do you go off road at all? If you do, those running boards are just asking to get torn off. That's why I removed mine less than a month after getting my 4runner.

I sold them about a week later for $20.

Yeah, I go offroad a good amount, but on this trip I won't be doing anything rough enough to bend the boards. They will be coming off once my parents leave too. It's just the best option for the three weeks on the road. Carrying a step stool is not viable really, cause I don't want to have to act like a chauffeur for them and it will take up room inside.

I'd take the ones to suit the black flares if I can have the flares too....?

The best option is getting sliders! They can step up on those and you don't have to waste your money running boards. arty:

Yeah, those are pretty cool. A work colleague has them on her Silverado and they would suit me well. However, they cost well over $1000 and from looking up close at them I'm not convinced they will hold up well under offroad conditions. And they don't have them to suit our 4runners.

I would just get sliders, not quite as low and easy to use as a step as running boards are but they work, that is what I did.

I've got flares like that on my '96 and running boards to match sitting in the basement. A couple of small cracks in the plastic, one of the rear mount arms may be a little bent. Chrome w/black plastic on top, it is black plastic at the wheels. I'm kinda far from you, though, dunno what shipping would be like. $25 + ship or stop by and pick 'em up part way into your trip.
