Removing a Catalytic Convertor

I have an '01 V6 that I plan to take to Africa - no un-leaded gas. Does anyone have experience or ideas on removing the cat?

Take it to a muffler shop and have them make a pipe to fit in place of the removed cat. If you are going to return to the states just have them add flanges otherwise you can just have the piece welded on. They might need to cut the old cat off because I am sure that the old bolts are probaly seized up.

You might have to change out the gas filler. The unleaded nozzles are smaller and the opening is smaller to prevent you from using the large nozzle leaded gas.

I do exactly what Muffler shops do.

You heat up the nuts using a torch and then blimp them off with an air rachet. The pop off like butter on a hot knife.

^i personally like the impact gun with a Universal socket

id have Flanges put on the cat so you can convert it back if need be ...
