Removing Alternator

Hi All,

How do you remove the alternator. I have loosend the the big stud that hold the alternator up and removed the nut directly below the alternator. At this point I had thought the Alternator would have been loose. The belt is still on.
Please advise how to remove.

Thanks,
Manj

im guessing that this is a 3rd gen 4run...now you just pull on the belt to push the alternator back and add more slack to the belt to remove..next, use a flat head screw driver to pry between the alternator bracket and alternator, be careful not to pry on the weak area of the alternator body, pry on the area that looks solid around the top alternator bolt....don't forget to unplug the battery before u start..and it would be a good idea to inspect and replace drive belts if needed...

Just a quick overview, there is only 1 stud/pin at the top to remove, and 1 nut at the bottom, then I'm good to pry it off?

The battery was removed before doing anywork :D

Cheers,
