Removing Fog Light Bulbs

Probably really easy to do, but I'm new to this.
I'm trying to change my fog light bulbs to yellow and I'm having trouble removing the old bulbs. I can't disconnect them from the fastener. Can somebody help me in how to remove the old bulbs.

For an 03-09 T4R, you need to turn the fog light bulb socket counterclockwise and then pull it out of the turn signal and fog light housing unit.

When installing the bulb socket, make sure that the lugs on the socket base are aligned with the cutouts on the front turn signal and fog light housing, then insert it into the housing and turn it clockwise until it locks into place.

Yeah I can take it out of the housing, but I can't remove the cable connecting it?

Ah, ok, I'm with you now ...

You'll need to depress the release tab on the electrical connector and then pull to disconnect the connector from the fog light bulb socket.

The release tab is likely facing away from you, so you can't easily see it.

Hope that helps.

just curious, what yellow fogs you choose.

While you wait for the OP's answer, I'm running the Hella Optilux Extreme Yellow (XY) lamps in my fogs. They're advertised as 2500K, if I recall. Definitely a major improvement over the stock fog halogens at about 3500K.

Thanks I got it.
Like the other poster I'm using 2500k.
Now can anyone tell me whats the name of the kind of light that's yellow in the headlight, above the beams. I want to change those to white, but I don't know what it's called to look up the bulb size. Thanks in advance.

u mean low beams on the headlight?, on the 03-05 its 9005 for high and 9006 for lows, on 06-09 its 9005 on high and h11 on lows.

Yellow Fogs

The best yellow fog bulbs out there are Hoen Endurance. They are expensive ($49.95 for a pair) but are worth it and look great.

They do a tremendous job of reducing glare in inclement weather.

Look for the tab on all of the 4Runner light sockets. I had the same problem until I found it. The bulb comes right out then. Be sure not to touch the bulbs directly.

I believe you mean the turn signals. The bulb # in my '08 is 4157 and you can get them as chromed which light up amber.

Try this:
OSRAM SYLVANIA - Replacement Guide - Start

The turn signals are actually beside the fog lights. I thought this would be a turn signal as well, but it isn't it just lights up lol. It's actually in the headlight.

+1 I have the Hoen Endurance bulbs in both my wifes 4R and my Acura TL-S. They are great bulbs!

You are indicating the front marker/running light. It is on even when your lights are not turned on. Toyota's idea of a DRL for the runner?? (poor, IMO).

Just start your vehicle, leaving the lights off, and take a look at the front. They're on. There is a TSB on how to disable it.
