I finally have a Scion HU, but I have no idea where to begin in getting the JBL HU out. Are there hidden screws? Is it all clips? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Nice, now for the bad news, the JBL HU doesnt swap out for the scion unit. More speakers and built in amps for the JBL wont work with the scion. Again, the search function would have told you this in like 30 different threads. Sorry.

:iagree:

Yeah I totally glazed over the part where he said he was swapping a SCION for a JBL unit.

The SCION unit has the AMP built into it while the JBL has an amp remotely mounted. The connections are totally different on the back of each.

Sorry, I know I should have used the search. I am still a rookie to this site and when I searched in the past I got some much conflicting info my head was spinning.

Also think I made an error on my original posting. I have the stereo with the single disc player, not the one with the six-changer. thus not the JBL, right?

Sorry again...as I said, I am a rookie and a new 4runner owner.

Dont worry about it, and welcome to the site. You will know if you have the JBL system if the face of the stereo says JBL and i believe the tweeters and speakers on the door say JBL. You can get the JBL with a single disc, so that doesnt necessarily mean its not the JBL system. The standard stereo that swaps for the scion looks like this.

Hopefully you do have the standard one so you can use the scion HU. If you cant make the swap, i know a guy that would probably be interested in the scion unit you have. That is if you were to sell it. Good luck.
