Removing pinstriping from an 06

I'm thinking about removing my pinstriping from my black 06 4runner. Does anybody have experience with removing pinstriping from a black 4runner, especially pinstriping that has been on for 4 years or so? I've searched and found out how to remove it, but I'm worried about differences in paint color after removal. Is it likely that I will notice a difference in the paint where the pinstriping used to be?

I wouldn't hesitate to remove the pin stripe. I doubt there will be any problems removing it other than the stripe might break on you.

There will probably will be a wax/dirt line left, but a little detailer or polish/wax will remove it.

I've done a few vehicle that were older than that, but never a black one; but I doubt you'll have any problem with it.

Dont Do it !

Don’t do it man! I removed my pin stripping from my red Pickup back in 1990. The truck was only 18 months old and it left behind a shadow of where the pin strip was. I have a black 4Runner too and you know how black show’s everything.

go ahead and remove it, there nothing to polishing where the stripe used to be. you can make black shine like its fresh out the paint booth all you have to do is polish it. red on the other hand fades bad and fast, thats why the other poster could see where his stripe was. take the stripe off, it will look much better with out it.

Even my gray has a "ghost pinstripe" now. I removed it when the truck was 6 yers old (when I bought it) but I really don't mind the shadow. I've detailed it and buffed it with the nice agressive pad all the way back to the light pad with light polish and it's still there. If the black is a clearcoat it's still going to fade. The fade is the paint under the clearcoat so buffing isn't going to fix that. On a metallic color it doesn't bother me as it's just not noticable.
