removing rear toyota emblem?????

hey i have an 04 toyota 4runner and im trying to black out my emblems. i got the front one off with no problem just pried at the pins, but how do i get out the rear one. thanks

Heat it with a heat gun or hair dryer until the adhesive softens and pry it off with your finger nails or something soft enough to not scratch the paint.

All of the emblems except for the grille are like this, they use the 3M tape type grey adhesive

I guess if you have an all black one, that you want to remove the emblems to make it even more all black?

One of my friends say it looks clean w/o badges and the other claims it a PITA to keep 'em clean and shiny. Me thinks they're lying and want to keep their 4R's as a "sleeper". :lmao:

+3. Then clean off the residue with WD-40 & microfiber, then wash the WD-40 off with car soap.

To your point, I don't understand the "murdered out" look...at all. I guess I remember econo box cars with steel rims. Debadging a car, for me, is just a way to hide the fact that you bought the cheapo model...

I couldn't get the floss behind the stupid thing.

I ended up using the tip of a zip tie to slip behind it, then gently pulled until I could get the floss behind the emblem.

the OP wasnt debadging, he was just taking it off to paint. but on the debadging, its just advertising, customizers have been removing them for years. there are several reasons some do it, besides a smoother look, the emblems have a habit of snagging brushes, rags, buffer wheels, & wax can sometimes get stuck in them. besides how how many places does a vec. s name or whats in it need to advertised, between name, brand logo, 4x4, model, engine. stickers, etc. 10 or so times seems to be a bit much. the look of the vec. or performance should speak for itself, & if anyone is really interested, they will ask. its like walking into a big affair wearing an Armani suit, people will notice how sharp & cool it looks/is , u dont walk around saying " hey, its armani !" name tags all over are not needed. but to each his own.

Back in the day, peeps would gold-plate their emblems. Nowadays, i think they matte-black finish their emblems.

I can see your point here. I don't understand the stock emblems, then people who add the license plate frame with the same, and a decal on the window. I don't know that I need to see 4Runner three times on the back of the rig.

And...you're supposed to take the tags OFF the suit before you wear it?!?! :lmao: I don't even own a suit. I'm part of PALLP. People against looking like penguins.
