Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but the toyota circular badge on the back above the license plate...how the hell do you get fishing line or floss behind it??? It's so tight against the panel and it's in the indention that you can't get ANYTHING behind it....do I need to heat it up more and use a screwdriver to pry a little bit, then floss? How the hell do I get that one off???

I used a zip tie. The end is rigid enough to slip behind it, then once through a spot in the glue, grab both ends and gently start to pull it away until you can get a finger in there. Worked for me. 
You might have to try a few different spots until you find one where the glue is thin enough. I also had trouble with floss/fishing line on this emblem because of the recess it sits in.

Oh alright --- good call. That recess/indentation is what's giving me trouble too. I'll post a picture afterwards...going to put the U.T. Longhorn in that spot :flipoff:

so, bought a new to me 03 limited and i started to debadge it and found that around the edges are scuffs and embedded dirt that has no hope of simply being washed off. now im stuck with dirt outlines around the missing letters. any ideas on how to clean this area without taking it to a shop to buff n paint... i have a white one so paint match would basically repaint the whole car over.

I don't care one way or the other on debadging, but did remove the cheesy looking little Toyota emblem on the right side of the tailgate. The back looks so much cleaner and balanced without it.

Honestly? I want to get some nice machined or plastic emblems made like my avatar to stick in place of the Toyota ones.

You could probably find the guy that does the devil horn emblems (tacoma world maybe?) and ask to have that done.

A heat gun or hair drier to WARM area will help remove emblem and tape adhesive not glue without chemicals. Will also help to not break emblem in cold weather. Just not so hot you blister emblem chrome or the paint surrounding it. If you cant touch it, its way to hot. Heat is the pros choice.

Paint fading should not be a problem with clear coats. It maybe shiner under the emblems but a good buffing should fix that not sure what color or how old the finish is but really old (6 years) paint it may may leave an impression that cant be helped.

Heat is good. I pealed mine off when it was over 100 degrees and humid, they gave a very small fight.
