Removing rear "wind deflector"

To me, the deflector hanging off the back only serves to create drag. I'm planning on taking it off, but am unsure about the holes it'll leave behind.

I've seen a few of y'alls T4R's without the rear deflector...what did you do with the holes?

99% of the ones you see without them didn't come with them.

It is auctually really helpful in keeping stuff of the back window.

If you remove it your going to have holes that you need to fill with something. Just leaving them there will probably lead to rust or something.

Keeps dust buildup ooff the back and yes it does serve that purpose since when i took mine off it accumulated a fair amount along the bottom of the back window. It may create a little drag but nothing that gives an MPG increase and I know since I left mine off for 3 months last summer.

I like the rear spoiler but it needs to be cleaned up and painted soon.

a custom paint job on the rear wing makes it stand out just a bit and gives you some unique stylin'


But if you do decide to get rid of it -then save the hardware and put it up for sale-other folks are looking to upgrade....

I know this is a bit off topic, but if you wanted to paint the rear wind delfector, what kind of paint would you use? I was thinking about painting mine silver to match the rest of the car

If you take it off you'll have to use a body filler to fill the holes and then sand it down and paint back over it. Shouldn't be all that complicated I wouldn't think.

you get the color code from your vehicle "tag" and then the paint will match when you take the code numbers to a reputable paint store...

Unless your paint has faded.

You might want to try that Duplicolor stuff that you used on your grill Kelly. It seemed to match fairly well.

ya i actually took mine off for about 2 months and the little holes had rings around them and when it started raining i didnt want anything getting rusty or w/e so i put it back on.

before i put it back on i sanded it down and painted it the black primer from Duplicolor and i was going to give it a coat or two of duplicolors black trim paint but i liked the look of the black primer so i just coated it a few more times with that and then put it back on. The heads of the screws looked funny not black so i went along and painted those all black too. but now it looks new and not all faded. i like it.

I took it off last night, and will drive it around for a while to see if I like it. I'm not worried about bolt holes...they can be filled easily with clear silicone or the like. Something that can be popped out later if I want to put it back on. Maybe some short round-top machine screws with color-matched heads.

Thanks for the offer bootown, but I very rarely sell my OEM stuff. It's always good to keep hold of it.
