removing roof rack cross bars

hi, I am thinking of removing the 2 cross bars from the roof rack. i see the adjusting screws but when trying to fully unscrew them, they stop. I am able to slide and adjust the bars but how can I actually remove them?

You have to remove the end caps on the rails and slide them off.

Although this TSB is for pre-delivery service, it might help you with the removal of the roof rack cross bars.

I was able to get the back covers off easily and slide them out. It makes clearing snow off the truck much easier.

Like a dummy, I put 2 dimples in the sheet metal over my driver's door trying to get the front ones off. I seriously hate myself for it.
