Removing Running Boards

Hey guys,

Just got my 97 limited 4runner yesterday and I'm DEFINITELY wanting the running boards off. I read a thread about it and it's super easy..but I've never done ANYTHING to any of my cars before other then basic fluid changes and minor things like that. This is the first car I'll be doing thing to. So I got underneath and went to get the bolts of and obviously there's rust..Here's the dumb part..I'm turning it left..but these suckers are locked in..I'm not wanting to strip anything so should it be like this or am I just doing something wrong? I'm a nooby :ybrick:

they are really simple to get off. just keep turning left. if they are really rusted try some pb blaster spray from auto parts store and let it soak for like 15 mins the try again.

They're just rusted; mine were the same way. I was able to salvage 5 out of the 6 bolts I believe but after looking at them I would suggest replacing them all is someone was to install the boards again.

If you can't get the bolts out after letting some PB Blaster do it's thing then I'd suggest cutting them off.

Most of fine just broke off the second I tried to turn them. One I had to sawzall the bracket and then angle grind the rest of it off.

Use pb blaster or wd40...that will do the trick!
