Removing running boards.

Boys,

I have been a machine today. 1st the fuel filter. Now I am tackling the running boards. What did you use to get the bolts off by the front tires, I don't have any sockets that will fit through the holes.

I used pb blaster and it worked great.

I have been using it, but can't get to the inside bolt. Did you use a narrow socket?

After applying liberal amounts of a 12 year old rigs best friend (PB Blaster), I seem to remember I either got a wrench up their with a pair of vice grips attached to end of it and worked away at it slowly or placed the socket up there first then put a skinny extension in there. All I remember was it was a massive pain in the arse and my wrench slipped at one point and I mashed my wrist. Good luck!!

Hmm. I guess my sockets are skinny. They fit right in.

Yeah mine were no problem. Didn't even need PB. Man I love Cali vehicles.

I finally gave up. Sounds bad doesn't it? I have yet to share a pic off my runner, but let me tell you there is plenty o' rust under it.(Maine Runner) Plus I didn't have a socket that would get in there. I almost got the dremel out to cut it off, but since my wife is not a fan of me not having them on, and because you can see some of the rust without them on, I left them on....For Now.

Sad to say it, it was easier to change the fuel filter, yank off the skid plates including the dented skid plate on the gas tank. Sand them and paint them than to get the running boards off.

I am thinking of getting some westin tubes like Fightman's. What do you think?
