removing shift knob

Does anyone know how to remove the original shift knob from 03 4Runner? I am thinking to replace it with Sparco shift knob.

Well, in the diagram on page 40-34 of the 2003 repair manual vol 2 that the Floor Shift Lever Knob Sub-assy simply is screwed on. Now that is what it looks like in the picture... it gives no directions except to "Remove"... no tools listed for such and it shows no other hardware.

Disclaimer: I attend public school so even picture interpretation is sometime difficult.

Hey Greenhorne, where did you get your aFe air filter? Mine came standard in my '03 with the Borla exhaust. I am treating it like a K&N filter. Where do you go to school in Sac?

I called aFe directly and ordered it from them, but at the same time there are two dealers local to Sacramento that do carry them. The price was just a tad bit better by calling them directly. It is the same one (part number) for the '02 Lexus GX470. You can also order from their website.

I am not in school anymore... finished sometime ago. I went to American River College then on to Sac State briefly. Got what I needed and moved on with job. Every so often I have to take new job spacific course usually from Sierra College (fire related stuff).

Did you get the knob off?
