Removing sliding cargo tray

New member here. I am close to buying a 2011 or 2012 Limited. There are very few '12s available. I have found an '11 with the sliding cargo deck. Can this be removed if I do not like it? If so, is it a difficult job? Thanks.

You might try living with it for a little while before removing it. I didn't like mine at first either as I thought it was seriously eating into about 4" of my available verticle space. But I have to tell you, I really like having it there now. I've found it very useful when removing say stacked bags of cement or mulch or whatever. Not having to reach way in there helps with the unloading and also keeps my pants clean. I really don't miss the lost space anymore.
 
I removed mine, it's not that difficult if you are mechanically inclined. I did it so my Lab can jump in/out easier, and would have more room, and it's easier to clean all the dog hair off as well. Doesn't look too pretty without the tray, as you have holes and whatnot, but it's covered with a pad for the dog.

I am X2 with the above. I was seriously going to take it out and then after living with it for three months, I decided I liked it a lot. Then I mounted my fridge to it and installed some additional tie downs as well. The thing is great, for all the reasons stated above.

If your dog is to fat to jump in, quit feeding him so much or get a ramp!! :lol:

haha...no kids at this point in my life=more play money! Plus, at the rate in which my truck gets broken into, the drawers will probably pay for themselves in like a year or two.
 
Well, pulled the trigger on man ARB drawer system so my sliding cargo tray will be coming out in the next couple of weeks. I'll post up some picks of the install in a dedicated thread.
 
Make sure you put a rabid cat or something in one of those drawers for the first week or so in case those thieving b@st@rds come back... :uzi:
 
I wasn't hot on the sliding tray at all.

Everyone else who sees it loves it.

After taking appliances to the recyclers and hauling attic insulation, I have come to accept it as something less than perfect, but something that sucks substantially less than not having it.

Thanks but I think I am going to hang onto the OEM stuff in case I ever need to sell the truck (don't plan on it anytime soon!). If I change my mind I'll shoot you a PM.

I like where your head is at on this one! We need to have another meet up! I propose we do it at DucMonsta's shop. We can install my SW bumper, and you guys can make fun of how filthy my truck is.
 
Bugser --I removed the sliding tray from my 2010 4Runner today. It took me all of about 1 hour to do so. I am looking to sell it. Contact me as we can discuss price and shipping.
