Removing the crossbars..

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and just bought my 1st Toyota. I did a search on how to remove the crossbars but couldn't figure out where the plastic end caps are located. Is it on the crossbar or roof rail? Does anyone have pics of the removal process? Appreciate the help. Tks.

These black caps are on the RAILS! When I removed my cross members, I used a small and medium flat screwdriver head to remove these end caps. Just wiggle the small flat head in between the crease to get started. I used a small swiss army knife blade to get started then progress to the small flat and onward to the medium flat head screw driver. I can't remember if you have to remove a couple of screws after getting the caps off but the two cross members just slide out of the rail when done. You then reinstall the caps, place the cross members in your garage or under your couch in my case and use your Toyota 4Runner to "move forward".
This is an easy mod (takes about 20-30 mins)!
