its 4 bolts exactly. They are on the interior of the bumper, located about an inch closer to center from the turn signals. one up high on the bumper, one lower. lie under the truck and check it out. they are pretty visible. Im pretty sure its a 12mm. I had to take mine off a few weeks back. You will need a deep socket or open ended wrench.
Put those 15 back and take off the right ones. Are you separating the lower valence from the bumper? that accounts for 8 bolts. plus a 4 pressure tabs for the turn signals.

also- you may want to re-think painting the chrome bumpers...I haven't personally tried but I've heard it's hard to get any kind of paint to stick to them...

I agree. I did mine. A few times to get it right.
The first couple times I did a light sand and some rattle can. Never really stuck for too long. if your going to go this route, I would recommend a wire cup brush or grinder to really get into the chrome. The general rule of thumb is that if it shines, spray paint wont keep.
Hurculiner did the trick! Go that route. Plus its more durable to trail rash. you will be painting the bumper again if you do any serious wheeling, if you go with spray paint.:roadkill:

Like others have said, you will really need to sand/grind on the chrome hard to get any kind of paint adhesion. Without good sanding it might hold up for a few months, but after that you will probably start to notice the paint flaking off in places.

As far as where to pick up hurculiner, any auto parts shop like an autozone or napa should have it. It comes in a paint can. I hear duplicolor bed liner is nice too and comes in a rattle can. I have not tried it though. I threw on three coats of hurculiner and it has help up awesome. I have re-applied once, but the first round lasted 3 years. not to shabby for under $100 to do both bumpers and rocker panels (About 3 hours including cure time). A good amount of the cost is attributed to prep supplies like tape and rollers, so if you have them already, it should be between $40-80, depending on the size can you get. I went with the full gallon so I could really lay it on. I do recommend green painters tape over the blue. You get a much better line with it.
There are extensive threads on hurculiner in the forum, but I would be happy to give any help and opinions that might help.

Turkeys won't work. You need a large animal or a large object. I find that telephone poles work well for this but parked cars work as well. Do it at night!

If you have the option, aim for a moose. You have those around you, right? That'll take the bumper trim off. Plus, moose make lots of meat! But venison is great too.
