Removing the rear 3rd member

Hey guy's,

In a few days I'm removing my third member to do a regear and wheel bearing install.
I've read conflicting reports that you have to disconnect the brake lines? I'm not really sure why you would have to do this?
I'm not really looking forward to doing the front but I'll be forced to lol. Gonna buy the front and rear kit by Nitro Gear from ECGS. Have a friend that is extremely comfortable with the rear, he's done tons of 9" Ford's. The clamshell up front is uncharted territory....

I followed this guide for the front diff, written by ECGS.

ECGS- Toy 8'' IFS Diff removal + ARB - TTORA Forum

When I did my rear diff a couple years ago, we slotted/cut the brake line mounts and bent them to allow the lines to move a little to pull out the axle shafts. I don't remember exactly, but we didn't have to bleed brakes.

You need to pull the axle shafts out a couple inches in order to remove/replace the 3rd member.

That's what I was thinking. I appreciate it man!

Yeah I don't think I'll have trouble removing the front diff, just setting up the pinion and ring is a little different than the rear. I have scoured the interwebs and found some decent info. Hopefully I can do a play by play w pics.

PLEASE!! Re-gear is on my short list since putting a bumper/skids/sliders on my V6.
