Replace Combination Meters Assembly

My speed meter stopped work out of sudden. Deal ask for $750 to replace it. Labor included. I'm wondering that if it's possible to install it myself in a weekend. Dealer claim it need 1.5 hours. Shall I plan for 3 hours. Is there special tool needed for this job?

Anyone can share an installation steps?

The model of my 4Runner is 2004 SR5 4 Wheel Drive.

You can install it yourself, the issue is that you still need to have it programmed. Sometimes they ask for the mileage when you order the meter assembly, many times it needs to be sent out to a specialty shop to have it programmed (the dealer does not do this.)

How much is he charging for labor? Not including what Blackworks stated it's about a 15 minute job to swap it out. I replaced the clear lens cover a few weeks ago as the previous owner must have wiped it clean with sand paper. I removed the meter assembly, swapped the lens and re-installed in about 15 minutes. Just verify what all he is wanting to do.
