Replace stock coils and shocks with ?

Sorry to revive an old thread.....

I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4x4 with the 3.4L and TRD package. It currently has 175k on it and the stock suspension is getting pretty rough in town and on the highway.

I have been searching and see a lot of conflicting info, so I just wanted to clarify. This truck is my daily driver and rarely, if ever, sees off-road conditions. I do occasionally pull my boat or a small utility trailer. Overall, I'm just looking to get back to the stock height/ride in town and on the highway.

If I were to replace my stock shocks/springs both front AND rear, what do you guys recommend? Stock OEM equipment? What exactly is that?

I don't want a lift, I don't want anything more than the stock ride back, and I don't want to spend a ton of money. I can do the work myself over the weekend, but I need to know what I'm replacing.

Again, sorry for digging up an old thread, but I'm sure it might be relevant to others looking to bring their old 3rd Gen 4Runner back to life!

If you truly want it back to stock, get the OEM parts. New front and rear shocks, keep the stock front springs (they don't generally sag), get new OEM rear springs ('99 tall springs - you'll have to search for the part number). You might need some bushings, etc. while you are in there, depending on how they have been aging.

Does anyone know where to pick up stock OEM parts for a 'reasonable' price? My local dealer's quote was outrageous!

I don't mind spending a little money on a good, quality set up that will give me back a factory ride, but I don't need to be bent over the hood in the process.

Or, if someone has a better idea for a set up that will give me back a nice, stock highway and in-town ride, I'm all ears. Part numbers would be appreciated too. I'd like to replace both front/rear coil springs and shocks.

You might try an online retailer like Camelback Toyota but the OEM coils are still relatively expensive. OEM Shocks are a bit more reasonable.

I am in Canada but got a similar quote for coils from the dealer. I decided to wait for something to come up on my local craigslist. I ended up with a set of FJ cruiser coils for 100$. I am paring them with Bilstein 5100s (ordered today). Going to net a little bit of lift, something like ~1.5". That's what I wanted, it should also freshen up my ride quality from the 20 year old stuff that's on there. You could do something similar with OME 880s on the front and OME 906s on the back.

You can go aftermarket on the springs with MOOG or Acdelco but if you hunt around for reviews most people advise against that.
