Replaced fuel pressure regulator, comments..

It was time to change the oil and filter, luckily, the local auto parts store had M1 syn 10w-40 on sale for $5.50 a quart. Since I was servicing the truck, I thought it might be time to tackle the fuel pressure regulator that was sitting on the shelf. Uuugh, pulled the air intake and throttle body to remove the pressure regulator. Not bad over all, since the intake has been recently removed and nothing was seized. The old regulator was barely holding any rest pressure at all.
The truck runs much better(smoother, seems to have more power to it) and starts immediately. When the tank runs down this week, I'll install the new fuel pump and screen that has also been sitting on the shelf. After 94k miles, the truck(1990) deserves a new pump. Hopefully, our mpg will go up after this.

I'll try and post some tomorrow. Oh yes, the truck seems to come off the cold idle much faster(a good thing). The detonation quality seems to be better, but we'll see what the future mpg results are(can't get any worse). The regulator installed was a Denso unit.

Here are some pics:

Unfortunately, you need to pull the intake up and pull the throttle body out of the way. The EGR equipment(piping) at the backside of the intake needs to be undone to lift the intake high enough to remove the regulator.
