Replaced rack, 3mos later pump noisy

'97 SR5 4WD, std. trans. 340,000 miles. I put in new steering rack from Car Steering Wholesale(Buy auto parts) in May Has worked fine until last couple weeks I'm getting a growl out of what seems to be the PS pump. Has fluid. Would the new rack cause the pump to go out or is it just worn out also?
What do some of the members think?

The pump is just worn out also.

One of the best things you can do for your power steering system longevity, is periodically change the fluid in the system. I've done periodic changes with Mobil 1 ATF, since I bought my '97, new.

I've done it every 3 years or so.

Thank you 02SE, that's what I was afraid of. Do you have a recommendation where to get a replacement? Otherwise I'll get a new one from CarSteeringwholesale. I try to change the fluids in clutch, brakes, and steering, but I'm sure I don't do it as often as I should
