Replacement head unit that still can use 6 disc CD?

I have an 03 SR5, non-JBL with the 6 disc CD changer in the center console that I'd like to replace the head unit in to get some more modern radio features. But I'm old, and most of my music is still on CDs, so I'd like to keep the 6 disc CD changer, if possible. I have not taken the dash apart yet to swap head units and was wondering if anyone here knows how the factory CD changer connects to the factory head unit, and if it would work with an aftermarket head unit the same way. Worst case I'll just get a new head unit that has a CD player in it and ditch the 6 disc in the center console.

new radio is much cheaper, and you can rip your cd to mp3 and store them on flash drive.

now if you got that nostalgia for the old school stuff, its going to cost alot for good condition radio and cd changer, half the stuff might not work. you dont get that usb or bluetooth connection.

I look for some pioneer radios with the ip bus connection sometimes, it just cost way too much, I do still have that dvd 6 disc in-dash changer that can work with those radios tho.

My Tacoma still has the 6 disc in it but I have not powered it up since installing the new headunit. All music is stored on a 64GB flash drive that fits nearly flush with the headunit face. Can go on a 2 week road trip w/o hearing the same song unless we want to. Looking to do the same on the 4Runner when the $$ becomes available. Swapping the disks in the 4 runner every morning when on road trips gets kinda tiresome.
