Replacement radio/CD for Highlander?

Sorry about the Highlander question, I do have a 4runner and this site has been very helpful so far.

We just bought my wife a used 2005 Highlander, drove 100 miles home, and the CD player doesn't work. Just a stock Toyota CD/radio combo, not JBL package (I don't think).

Also, does not have an alarm system, only locking doors with the keyfob. But the key is one of those fat ones that might have the chip built in to prevent theft.

Would I have any special problems installing an aftermarket CD/MP3/radio combo? I usually buy this stuff from crutchfield with install kits, etc, have been very happy so far on prior vehicles.

Just want to make sure I don't shut the car down or something serious while I change the stereo.

Thx !!
