Replacement Windshield Wiper Blades

Not sure if many people are in the market or not, but after a lot of frustration with skipping and poor results with OEM wiper blades on my '06 I decided to try a different route.

Last weekend I installed a set of Bosch ICON frameless blades. Mother nature gave me a chance to try them out immediately after I put them on and I am extremely pleased with the results so far. They stay firmly against the windshield and don't skip, even at higher speeds. If I had any complaint it would be that the passenger side blade seems to miss the top 1" of the blade length, but that is virtually undetectable.

I am not sure how they will hold up over time, but I am extremely pleased with the results so far and would highly recommend them over the OEM blades.

Please do follow up with us. I have found the Bosch blades to be good out of the box but start to streak over time. I have not tried the icons.

My biggest problem is small chips in the glass slowly wearing a notch in the blade and causing wet lines before I even notice the chip.
 
In my experiance with wiper blades in general bosch is the best. I recently bought the rainx blades and i am not too hapy, it seems like they dont have contact with the glass in some areas and streaked right out of the box. Of course if i put a little rainx on my windsheild and drive a little faster i dont even need my wiper blades.
 
I had the Bosch on my previous vehicle and they worked well.
I think all wiper blades will begin to streak if not taken care of, depending on the climate and so on...
 
From what I have read about wiper blades on this Forum, I have purchased a set of Bosch Icon Blades. I'll try to remember to tell you what I think after about six months or so of using them. Icy on my bracketed stock blades do not work at all in the ice storms we have here in Central Indiana.

I want Snow and lots of it. No more Ice Storms!
 
Any of you guys get hazy windshields. I have brand new Icons and I'm having severe hazing visible at night. Yes I have cleaned the windshield throughly.
 
I just bought a set of the ICONs too but haven't installed them yet but as soon as I do and actually get some real snow to try them out I'll report back.

I had a hazy windshield before I got the ICONS as well. Really really starting to bug me.
 
Interesting about the haze. I have not had a problem on my previous Toyota vehicles. My 08 T4R is still new. I hope I don't have the problem some of you are having. It sounds like it could be a problem with the glass or the glass coating.

Is your haze problems on the inside or outside? Haze is not good!

On the outside, it appears after each pass of the wiper and disappears within a second. Absolutely awful at night though.

I am starting to believe it is this coating that is on the windshield. I'm hopeless, out of ideas and $100 to boot.
 
Hazing = Wax gotten onto the windshield somehow? or some other oily substance?

I put Trico winter blades on mine 30 min. after picking it up when I bought it. They are a requirement in the winters here.

I have had that too. I believe that it has to do with the temperature difference between the inside of the truck and the outside. I run my defroster and it keeps it to a minimum. I believe that it has more to do with the moisture content in tha air and the temperature difference.

I cant accept that when other cars wipers work flawlessly

yes. I have found that this is caused by a) automatic car washes that use a wax in the soap and is worsened by b) cheap washer fluid. and just because you didn't pay for the high tier wax soap doesn't mean the guy before you didnt , some still sits in the lines like it sticks to your glass. I found a car wash out here that uses a very nice soap, only ghosts or hazes same day as wash. if im lazy and go to some other place I always regret it. I use 20/10 washer fluid. it is the best fluid I have found and will actually reverse hazing over time. (so long as you don't keep adding to the problem with cheap washes)

At one time or another I've had that phenomenon on every vehicle I've owned over the past 30+ years I've been driving.

I'm convinced it's environmental in nature, wax or oil of some sort getting on the glass.

Where can I pick some of that up? I actually just ran out of the junk in my tank.
