Replacing 2005 4R standard stereo

Hi'all,

Got me a 2005 4R V6 w/ standars cassette and CD player. I am wondering if there is a way to shoehorn a stereo from a 4R Limited with the screen and backup camera? Does the module and the screen cost over $4,000.00? Am I missing something else?

If you just want to upgrade the sound, and don't want to spend a lot of money, I'd recommend buying a Scion head unit because it looks factory, and it sounds 1000x better than the standard one.

i second that the stock sound system on 05 SR5 V6 4WD Runner sucks. Then again i dont care as long as its a great truck. It seems my '97 Camry LE had much better sound.

Use Search... Adding Camry NAV to the 4Runner is very easy and has been done by many people. The supplier most people have used is currently out of stock, but the replacemend for just the stereo and Nav (not from Toyota) is about 2500. Plus the backup camera and mods needed for that (if you wanted).

Yeah, I have a '98 Camry and the stock sound system in it is _much_ better than the 4Runner. Probably just better acoustics in the small car also the large speaker mounted in the trunk of the Camry.

I will look into that... wonder how the unit from Scion looks like. I guess I will have to go to the dealership ssmell all the new cars

2nd that on 4R being a GREAT truck!!! ... followed closely in 2nd place is my 71 Mopar!!

I will *ask* my buddy working in the dealership to price me a Scion unit at cost....

$2.5k ... have to hit the 'ol lady for some b'day and Christmas anniversary gift rolled into one. Sure do look and sound great when we tested the Limited:arrow:
