Replacing carpet with truck bed liner spray

I have a '90 4runner that i'd like to replace the carpet with the spray on bed liner. Has anyone else done this? Any tips on getting the carpet out? I may just start with the front and leave the carpet in the back for now.... Any help is greatly appreciated!

Are you sure that's what you want to do? You're going to get a lot more road noise and engine heat in your cab.

I would wonder the same about the previous post, FWIW. As for the bed liner, I've used the brush on stuff for a number of applications and sure like it for protection. For example, my 4R had some rust on the top of the tail gate. I cleaned it all up, coated it with rust-conversion goop then painted on the bed liner stuff for a nice 4" lip that took care of the rust and protects the tailgate lip from damage putting things in and out.
Guess it depends on your plans - if you're looking to make it a hose-out type of vehicle then that stuff would do the trick. Guess you can always throw mats & carpet on top of it. Good luck.

You could do the spray in liner and install the vinyl flooring over it instead of carpet. I have this setup and it’s easy to keep clean and keeps the road noise down like carpet. I did the entire floor and walls this way, front to back.

I just Herculined the interior of my 4Runner and there is actually a lot less road noise than stock. The Herculiner does such a great job covering every nook and cranny that it makes a better seal than stock.

I can see myself using Herculiner and Krylon before too long. Just picked up my custom receiver hitch/bumper and may use Krylon on it.

Dig your write-up, good pics. I'm surprised you've got less noise, I bedlined the cab of an '84 F250, and it was much louder when I was done.

No increase in heat through the firewall or tunnel? And I didn't see, did you roll on the liner, or spray it?
