Replacing exhaust manifolds with catalyic 4.0 v6

So after owning my 4 gen for about 3 months its been nothing but a money pit. I have been doing all work myself so ive saved a lot of $.

Dont get me wrong.. Its a great truck, rides great and its a good quality long lasting truck. BUT!!!! Its not perfect.
The biggest problem is the very cheaply made exhaust manifolds with catalyst converters. After replacing o2 sensors and changing gas cap , spark plugs airfilter pcv valve and a bunch of other maintenence things inclusing seafoam... The check engine light would not go off.

It seems that the manild was leaking where it attaches to engine. I gave up and decided to just buy new manifolds with cats. It is probably just the manifold gasket that needed to be replaced , but i sont want to take the chance.

Did you purchase oem manifolds/cats or go aftermarket?

The manifolds have the cats right behind them and I priced them at the dealer and were $800 each.

Also curious on the codes...

and I've also wondered if integrating the catalytic converters into the manifolds is any more cost effective than casting them.

Cast Iron Manifolds need to just be cast, mildly machined, and studs installed...

Integrated Catalytic Converter manifolds require stamping, bending, welding, mild machining, and installing studs.
