how much would it cost to change the rear main seal in a 92 4runner v6 auto. a guy told me around $400

That price doesn't sound too bad. I paid $600 for the rear main seal in my '95 T100. The rear main seal is generally one of those expensive repairs since they have to pull everything out to get to it.

You will have an oil leak usually if you have a bad rear main seal. And I am somewhat mistaken about what they need to pull out. They don't usually need to pull out the whole engine, but they do need to pull out the transmission. Still a costly repair, but one that is necessary.

What other trivial repairs can be done at the same time as the rear main seal?
I definitely need that rear main seal replaced as well. It's only getting worse, and my driveway is looking like a dark Van Gogh painting (as if I know anything about art).
My mech quoted me around $475 bucks, but I think they were going to do a few non-related items with that.
So, since I'm going through with it, what other trivial repairs can be done while their pulling the tranny to get to the seal. If you don't know what I mean, it's the same as when you replace your timing belt -- you may as well replace the all the exterior belts as well since they are being pulled off anyway.
Thoughts?
