replacing running boards with mud flaps

First time posting here, searched the threads but couldn't come up with anything. I've got a '98 with the chrome on the fender lip (no flares) and hate the running boards. I want to stick on some mud flaps that look good and will prevent me from sandblasting/denting up the side of my truck.

Anyone know if these Toyota flaps will fit right or if there is a cheaper way to get them or some others that look good?

Try either of these places, they will have what you want. Northridge is good to deal with and I've heard good things about the first one also.

PS: I'd love to have your runningboards, I like the crome strip. I kept mine on, I don't crawl over rocks so I've only bent them a little. They keep way more mud and small rocks off the side of my truck and I'd rather put up with their poor looks than put up with all the chips and knicks on my rockerpanels. Just me tho...

I don't so much mind the looks and I really like the protection, but I am tall and don't use them for stepping up and always bump my leg into them getting out.

Once I get something to replace them with if any of you want my boards you are welcome to make an offer.

You've got a nice looking Runner. I see that you haven't put mud flaps up front, do you recommend leaving it like that or has it caused any damage from kicking up stuff?

I have a friend who put sliders on his 4Runner, they look great but I am not ready to make that investment and don't do enough wheelin' to justify it.

i haveint notice a problem with rocks and such but it is easier to fling mud down the side of it i dont do alot of offroading but sliderz make a nice step and keep your truck from getting door dings

Mine never had runningboards and has the factory mudplap that fit the smaller flat plastic flares and they do ok at keeping crap off the sides but they could be wider.

Most runner with boards that I've gotten in and out of have been to short for me to use them so I step over them and that just makes my pants dirty if they are muddy.
I love not having them on my truck but a few people do comment about the effort to get up into the truck and I only have the taller tires and the taller coils.
