I would pay the dealer, that way if something happens, it's not on you. IMO if youare gonna spend that much money, I would go with something aftermarket. You'd get better results, be able to install yourself, plus something like bilstein 5100s include a lifetime warranty.
I recieved bad info about the cost...we can get OEM parts installed for $730. Looks like i get bilsteins for about $400. Disconnect the XREAS, keep the existing springs and move on?

Yep, sounds about right. ARK is the suspension solution man! Bilsteins are great and from what I've read, great on the ride too! I have XREAS myself so I can understand your dilemma.....I say go with the Bilsteins, they're also adjustable so you can change the ride height in the front which is also nice.
Does anyone know what it takes to replace the OEM shocks? Where & how do you disconnect the hyd. lines so no oil or pressure is lost? How difficult is it?
Mama seems to think if we go w/bilsteins the T4R will ride like a truck and she will loss the car ride! More $$ than cents in my book!

IIRC, it is best to perform maintenance on the XREAS component with the truck off the ground, i.e. on a lift, and all tires "hanging" so that the shocks are fully extended. There are 2 reservoirs, 1 on each side of the truck underneath, in the middle. It is mounted up onto the frame.

5100s can be purchased for under $300 from ajusa.com. They usually have a coupon listed on their home page. I really like the 5100/fj coil setup.
If you can do the install yourself, I'd suggest giving the 5100s a try. You may love them, a lot of people do. If not, swap to new xreas shocks and resell the 5100s, they will be very easy to Seoul and get your money back.
There's a lot of members in ca, maybe search around and you can find someone local with the bilsteins so you can try them out before buying.
Snowbrdr033 is right on the disconnect procedure. You'll want to disconnect the lines at the right spot. If you locate the line where it connects to the shock, follow the line for approx a foot and you'll see the disconnect point.

I did a small write-up on working on the XREAS, its not super detailed. Also you want the vehicle in the air, shocks fully extended.
