Replacing Xreas

I brought my 4runner in for the 60k service today at a dealer that has been quite good to me. They said that during the inspection they found that the front Xreas components were leaking, and would likely have issues at some point (but not in the immediate future). They were not trying to sell me on any sort of fix, just a heads up.

I have been wanting to lift the 4R, so rather than paying for a possible replacement of the Xreas system, it seems to make far more sense to rip out the system and put in a very good aftermarket suspension geared for offroad.

I've done some reading on the topic so I do have some basic info, but I would like to hear from users who have done the same thing about the pros and cons of the different systems out there.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If my Xreas was leaking , I'd have it out in a heartbeat. Until then I will enjoy it. I pounded some pretty heavy crap with it and surprised it's not leaking myself. Must be built pretty good , I also dont hear about them failing on here either , even with spacers . At least I don't recall.

When I put my spacers on , I am going to pull the front shocks/coils off to do it and use a wall mount compressor . I've already disconnected the drivers side once and re hooked it without a problem.

One other thing I was told about this system , is that I could pull my shocks/springs , CAP OFF Xreas on the shock and on the truck at the designated points , not loose the pressure and reinstall at a later point if I wanted to. Probably how people do when they sell their system and ship it.

OME's over any co setup. Costs far less and works like a champ. If you've got $ to burn then I'd say check out some coilover setups but otherwise definitely far too expensive for the need for the majority.

I always recommend OME's over any CO's for the majority unless you're a power driver on the trails. The OME's feel just as good as stock but lifted so it's a win win situation. Price point makes it justifiable for your significant other so they don't rip a new rear
