Residual value is an option that comes with a Toyota and Honda, but is not available on Ford, Chevy or D-Chrysler. Ford, Chevy and D-Chrysler said that they have considered residual value and quality but that customers would rather have leather and 8-way power seats and upgraded appearance packages, instead. They also have stated that factory rebates were far more important than fit and finish. Customers want to know how much they saved when they buy a new vehicle. And back to residual value, you can't even see it on a new car, even if they park it right up front in the showroom under the bright lights. So why would you buy a 4Runner for $30k or more when you can get a fully optioned Exploder for well under $30k with factory and dealer rebates? Only idiots like us would take the Toyota.
