Resonator Delete Questions...

Stuck CAPS

I've been searching, and have found information on the resonator delete only with pipe welded in its place. Will I have any issues with doing a resonator delete and having the tailpipe end right where the resonator starts? At least for a while, that is.

It'll rattle around on the axle I think cause there aren't any hangers on the end.

Surprisingly it doesn't rattle much at all. I cut mine just after the axle and before the resonator so it was pointing downward, its been rattle-free for the most part. I may move it to the side later down the line, but it works fine now; I cut mine off with a cut off wheel, didn't have a Sawzall handy.

Can you forsee an issue with cutting it later than you did, So that the pipe is still pointed back?

Uhm... not really? I mean it'd have more freedom to move about probably, I really don't remember there being that much extra before the resonator.

Awesome! How does it sound with out the resonator and stock muffler? I'm considering doing this to my moms GX470 and getting a nice "Lexus looking" tip welded on in place of the ugly resonator. While my dad appreciates his flowmaster and no resonator on his 4R I don't think my mom would love her Lexus to be loud.

i removed mine and like it. with the windows up you cant tell that its any different. with them down its a small difference

I removed mine after someone ran into the back of me and bent the pipe downward. I had a local shop cut off the exhaust pipe just past the muffler and weld in a new pipe. I could tell zero difference in sound. I really don't see the point of it. The $100 they charged was much less than buying a new one.

Cut my resonator off and turned it out the side. Some knucklehead hit it and I’d scraped it on rocks wheeling. No noticeable difference in sound.
