Hey everyone. I recently purchased a 2010 pearl white limited 4Runner. I mainly bought it for my wife. We absolutely love it. I bought it to flip got a great deal as I currently drive a 2004 sport v8 modified. Now we can’t sell it just way to nice. We’ve had platinum sequoia, bmws, Lexuses and this is bar none one of the best vehicles we’ve owned. 116k drives and looks brand new. For anyone contemplating upgrading there that Awsome. Anyway!
My 04 I had a magnaflow muffler installed and left the rear resonator in place.
Current 4ru gen v8 Sounds utterly amazing very low and deep grabs attention when you get on it but not overbearing cruising etc. I’m convinced leaving the resonator in helped keep tone under control and keep drone away. Anyhow i am very content with leaving the limited as is as it’s the first 4Runner out of 10 I’ve owned I feel is Awsome just how it sits. Of course now I’m considering how it really needs the sweet exhaust to complete it.
At the moment we plan On keeping it for years.
My question is shall i leave it how it is and enjoy it keep it stock and classy in case we need to sell it. I’m sure most buyers in looking for this limited model would be turned off buy an exhaust hurt resell unless I had it welded back on. If I owned anything but a limited SR5/trail/pro I wouldn’t think twice about the upgraded exhaust but being my wife’s ride/family vehicle in limited I’m feeling like I’m ruining the classy feel with an exhaust.
Or should I just do it and add that touch of customization that comes with adding a head turning exhaust to a sweet ride.
My only concern is I’ve had the magna flow exhaust 18 inch on past 4runners and as good as they sound after putting one on my v8 I just think it will be more annoying now.
Also for those thinking I should do it can anyone tell me where the resonator is on the 5th gen. It’s not in the rear by the tip as the 4rh gen is? Did they just put a bigger muffler on the 5th gen? Thanks for advice all..
