restoring my tailpipe to it's original glory?

I have a single pipe TRD exhaust, nut the end of the pipe is all gross and completly lost its luster...i dunno if it's rust or what? but it would be damn pretty if i could get it shining again!

any ideas?

Can't speak for TRD, but my stock on is black flat black and it's brand new. Be using a lot of elbow grease to shine it up!

Is the TRD chromed or something?

I painted mine with a semi-gloss oil enamel (black) that I was using to touch up rust on the frame.

I guessing the material is a 416 or similar stainless which is a not quite your 18-8 300 series grade but quite a bit better than carbon steel for corrosion resistance.

yup, just checked it with a magnet. This would be a ferritic stainless.

I use Mother's Billet Aluminum Polish on mine, but I have Borla tips...I guess you would need to find out what material it's made of, before getting the right product to clean it.

Blue away...removes gold coloration from Stainless and does a great job of polishing as well.

Where can I find 'Blue Away'. My Magnaflow tip is already getting that gold coloration after a couple thousand miles.

hope that link works...its really designed to remove blue heat discoloration from SS but it does polish things as well...but its twice as expensive as a normal paste polish for metal.

if you just want to polish up the stainless tip, there are easy ways using one of those Mother's Power Ball and their metal polish or someone elses metal polish.

Look for a product call Nev R Dull....it's used to polish metal and I've heard it work pretty well.
