Restoring Old Headlights

A clear headlight glass have always better light output than yellowish/hazy ones. Sanding and and restoration kits will clear and smoothen the surface, but remember that your headlight don't have the protective coating anymore that repels contamination, so it will be yellowivh again in 2-3 mos. I will just buy those $5/bottle from pepboys and save the $20 for an OEM headlight...also those aftermarkets from ebay will have scattered output .. no good.

If my goal is to have sparkling tee.. th.. . ahh headlights .. I'll use toothpaste..same outcome as those $25 kits..then buy OEM when I have money..:lmao:
 
I've also used some light rubbing compound and a coating of wax worked for my 94 Ranger. Plus Meguires PlastiX works for plastic based lenses.
 
I have a 1997 Camry, and every 3-4 months I just rub some Meguiars PlastiX on them and they are good again. I've never gotten mine "like new", I'm not sure that's possible. Like the others said the yellowish tint will return. However, no matter what you use (provided it's designed for plastic), you will see an improvement in the light output. The first time I used it my wife thought I put new headlights in.

dont polish your turd headlights. i had the frosted ones on my 98 forever and hated them. I was soooooooo much happier when i got the new clear lens 99-02's. That polish stuff does work but your not going to see a huge improvement on your headlights considering they are frosted anyways, it will clear them up a little and deffinitly take all the yellow out
 
Bronco, where did you buy the 99+ headlights and whats the best price on them? I know jason sells them but they are over $320!
 
I just bought the ones off ebay that had in the other auction. Sure the fitment may be a little off and the beam pattern may not be 100% but they are a fraction of the cost
 
I've used some blue magic plastic polish followed by some blue magic metal polish with decent results.

Wanna see better...need to get some 'Christine' headlights. :biggrin2:
