Retractable Running Boards

anyone ever installed these??

just wondering if anyone actually put in one of these retractable running boards. we have had the 4R for 3 weeks now and the wife is having to stretch and depending on what she is wearing, having a harder time getting in :lmao:

at least these will keep the look cleaner.

i've seen these on the escalades and navigators around town over here.

they look pretty decent and the soccer moms that use them seem to have an easy time getting in and out.

i say go for it!

you can be the first to get it and do a write up :D

I could not find anyone in the forum who'd done it. I emailed AMP research and here is the response I got:

We do not have an application for the 4 Runner. We have not had a 4 Runner in our R & D department so we have no way of knowing if the step could be modified to work on the 4 Runner.

Sorry we could not be more help.

Bruce Landfield was the guy who responded to my email.

If you do it, I wouldn't expect much help from them.

Count me in as being very interested in the project though

Aren't they located in Central Florida? Maybe we could have someone drop by with their 4Runner and assist them.

I called a local store about 6 months ago. They said they could possibly fit some that were made for the Tacoma. I didn't feel comfortable paying $1500 to have them try to fit it to the 4Runner.

I am still interested in this mod if a good solution is made. Like nah2323 I'm not a big fan of the running boards on the 4Runner and think these would work nice for what I want.

I don't like any of the options for a step that don't require cutting down the panels... so I'd certainly be interested in a set too. Perhaps we should give them a hint at the potential from 5th gen owners in particlar???

I'll send send them an email showing my interest. i guess if you are interested also send them an email also. it will be a big market potential for them. pricey though.

I too have struck out locally. Anyone know what the address is to tell them we're interested?

My Grandmother can't even get into my wifes new truck...

These are not yet available for the new body 4Runner. The Westin Suregrips should be available by Christmas.
