Retro Bixenons: TL or FX-R projectors??

Hey all,

Been doing some research on bixenon projectors for a retro. FX-Rs seems to be popular. On the other hand, Acura's TL bixenon projectors seemed to be rated pretty high on other forums. Best seem to be Lexus LS430, but those can run very expensive. So which one, here's a link that compares MANY bixenon projectors. Comparisons of bixenon Projectors

Philsey (from the 5th gen subforum) has used FX-Rs and loves them. Can anyone else share their experience with their bixenons??

well i use the morimoto d2s bixenon, cause they had the quick retro kit for the 07 and up stock projector. i like the ability of having quad high beam to flash stupid drivers, but someone else here did both that d2s and h1 and he seems to like it. if u still have stock heads with the 9006 then use the h1 to save time, but if u want something better use the fx and tsx and mod it, also u can just use s2k and mod it too.

I would go with TL+ZKW-R if money is not a subject. FX-R is really small, 2.5" projector and it will look tiny in large T4R headlights. TL is 3" projector and better performer overall. I would use TL or LS460 bi-xenons if I would do it all over.

My only thing is that they are recommending a shroud that doesn't "jive" with me. On lightwerkz website, they said the "Apollo" shroud is best for it (TL). I was looking forward to the "Gatling Gun" shroud..............

I was talking about LS460 rather than 430, LS430 is single beam and LS460 one of the coolest looking bi-xenon projector available.

I have one for test purposes and it looks badass in T4R headlights! No shroud required since they build in. They can be had for around $300

Appolo shround should cover TL nicely. I used Guttling Gun shroud in my retro and they barely covered 2.5" TSX projector, too small for TL and you would have to modify them it would not be direct fit.

The FX projector IS very small, I was staring at an FX today and I agree it would look strange in the headlight of a 4th gen 4Runner. TLs it is then! I'm doing the 35W @ 4300K. Keeping the halogen Hi Beams. Should I put in a more powerful Hi beam bulb?

This is going to happen in the coming months, when I do, I'll post pics!
