Retrofit FJ Cruiser shift knobs for 4th and 5th Gens

I have been making these for a few friends and all of my 4runners.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying them if I made more.

The down side is, FJ shifters are 40-65 on eBay or from Pure FJ. So that would make the modded shifters cost about $50 - $75 Shipped.

They take about an hour to build and when finished are as strong and OEM looking as the original.

Below from left to right. 5th gen. 4th gen. 4th gen. FJ.

Just wondering if this is worth making a few or not, I reluctantly spent the money to make these for mine, but not sure how many people would spend $100+ on a shift knob.

Yea there is a pic there of the knobs. Here is a pic in the 4th gen.

I will take a pic of one of my 5th gens tomorrow.

But here is the side by side of the knobs.

One cool thing is FJs and 5th gens (with shift levers) have the same T-Case knob, so the FJ knob matches the 5th gen perfectly.

I think they look pretty good. Maybe even better if there was a "4R" or something 4runner related on the top of the shifter then it would be even better.

3d print a whole shift knob, lol.

Out of curiosity, how do you separate the FJ knob pieces, is it glued or screwed together from the factory?

I know there are people printing FJ Knobs already, that say FJ on them, I may be able to do the T4R on them.

The OEM Knobs are not glued or screwed, they just slide apart.

I was actually just kidding about printing a whole knob, didn't even know that would be possible, lol. Thanks for the heads up on how the knob is assembled! Looks much better than this oem dildo knob we have in the 5th gen

Yes, It just leaves alot of shaft showing. But since the T-Case threads are larger you would have to use a threaded adapter.

The 5th gen shifters are Giants. I have a couple, but the knob is so long you cannot even thread it on the 4th gen.

Your best bet is either ebay or a FJ forum. The ones pictured have been shortened to fit runners

you can get them off ebay for a fair price and then do the work yourself. all of mine now have inlays in them (because i got all fancy pants).

I put an FJ knob on my j shift transfer that i swapped into my 02. Looks good and fit perfect. Never liked that original weeny knob.
Got it off eBay for like $12.
