The revival of Old Silver, hopefully.
Not in any real hurry at this point in life.
Single owner 1992 toyota 4runner. Only 113035 on the clock.
Poor old thing has been sitting for about 14 years.
Interior is still pretty nice... for a 24 year old.
Both front fenders have dents and the front corner hood paint is to the metal because of a bug deflector, but other than that its in good shape.
I had smashed the gas tank and skidplate back in the mid '90s and took out the reserve, when the light came on you were out of gas.
The clutch went out a second time and it sat around because i had a '98 tacoma work truck that filled in.
Then it decided to not fire up, turned over just no start. So it sat.
Now its become a shelf in the garage.
There is a Porsche/VW 914 under that pile of cardboard boxes behind it. Another project...
I gotta get this runner moving, before i cant move anymore... and that 914.
The 'new' clutch has been sitting in the back for 10+ years.
Bought some tune up parts wires/plugs/filters, new fuel pump...exhaust. Years ago.
The fuel pump stoped making its familiar little buzzing when you turned the key.
Dropped the gas tank the year before last, the bottom inside was covered with a funky orange/red crud, not rust, like jelled gas maybe.
I put the tank out in the back yard and Pack rats built a nest in it, wtf. So it sat some more.
I found a used tank last week out of a poor smashed up front end wreck of a red 1994 runner, so i guess i need to start in on this runner again.
I pulled the driveline to get the gas tank out so now would be a good time to do that clutch.
Just going to poke away at this and try to get it moving again.
Wanted to start this thread to keep track of what i do and to seek help as needed from the hive mind.
I enjoy reading about everyones builds and experiences with these runners, figure i should reciprocate with my own.
If anyone has any helpful hints for the clutch or advise to reviving a motor that has sat for so long feel free.
It will be my first clutch job...and as i have said before i am not a mechanic but i have a box of tools and my time is free.
I know just enough to be dangerous.
