Revo 2 vs Destination

Before all of you "search nazis" beat me up, I have a couple of specific questions that I couldn't find the answers to. First, is the Revo 2 noticeably quieter than the Destination on the asphalt/concrete ?

Will the Revo 2 last noticeably longer with mostly all "on road" driving ?

Is the Revo 2 worth the extra $40+ per tire than the Destination ?

I've narrowed it down to either one of these 2 tires in an LT 255/75/R17 Load Range C (6 ply) and I just would like some personal opinions. I do some light towing and light "off-roading" while hunting/camping. These will go on my 2010 4R, SR5, 4x4.

I've owned both and i have to agree with you on all points. Revo2 does look better...that's about it.

I HATE THE DESTINATIONS.

I had them since december and so far im not pleased.
they are the same size and weight as my old tires (yoko geo g53) but they feel so square compared to the yokos i know they are at's and the yoko werent but the performance sucks and ice and rain traction aren't better at all. Snow traction is better but miles per gallon decrease by 2 mpg's and the manuevering is far worse. not happy

I bought my Revo's about 4 years ago and i like them. I have about 10k miles left on the tire's and that would put me about 60k miles since i bought them. Noise, what noise? I would by them again, but i think i will go with a cheaper brand time since cash is tight.

After 50k miles on the Revo1 the tread is still good but getting there. I do mostly on-road driving and never had a puncture. They always performed well in rain and snow. When the time comes I would consider the Revo2s or the LTX.

Concur with your points.

To the OP: I have owned both sets of tires on multiple vehicles and they are both great and have similar attributes. Either one will serve you well. I recently purchased the Destinations for my 4Runner this round due to the price.

The Hercules Terra Trac A/T are worth a look. I have them on my '94 (31x10.5x15) and they're excellent. Quiet, great dry weather handling but also great in the wet, snow and off-road. I can't vouch for longevity because I haven't put many kilometres on them, but they're a good value.

I just went to the Hercules website, and they don't offer a LT 255/75/17R, Load Range C (6 ply), in the Terra Trac AT.

You're right. But they're still worth a look for anyone interested in an A/T tire like the Revos or Destinations. Why is that size/load rating important?

Its important for me because it is a true 32" tall tire, (extra ground clearance) it matches up with the OEM 7" wheel perfectly, has less rolling resistance, (narrow width) and it is an LT, load range C (6 ply) tire. I must have a 6 ply tire for towing and extra sidewall protection, but I won't use an 8 or 10 ply tire, on account of the stiffness (rough ride) and extra weight. (thus killing my fuel mileage) Some might not agree with my reasoning, but a LT 255/75/R17, 6 ply fits my application 100 % to the T.

I've been driving on the Revo 2's (P 265/65 r17) for about 27,000 miles now and I'm indifferent about their performance. I've had them on snow, ice and mud more than several times. I bought them at a Firestone/Bridgestone shop and looked at the Destinations as well. The Revo's look a heck of a lot better than the Destinations, which ultimately made me lean towards them.

Mud performance: Obviously low since they are geared more for on-road performance. They basically turned into NASCAR-esque racing slicks after 100ft or so and I got stuck.

Ice: See mud.

Snow: No complaints.

Rain: I feel like they hydroplane more than they should. I keep the PSI around 35. Every puddle I hit on the highway makes the car shift (even a full unintentional lane change once @ 55 mph in a 70 mph zone).

Dry: These things are great. Phenomenal handling. Very sticky. Very stable. Great tracking on highways (majority of my driving). They are quiet for an AT. It's hard to tell if the wind is louder or the tires are louder.

The price for them installed was 900+. They are wearing well but I think I'll be replacing them with Nitto Terra Grappler's or BFG's. I just can't justify paying the price again for the mediocre (keep in mind I had very high expectations) all-around performance.

SO... while I can't offer an opinion on the Destinations, I am steering you away from the Revos.

I checked the Hercules online catalogue again and it states the Terra Trac A/T LT265/70R17 C (and D for that matter) load rating as having an overall diameter of 32".

Tire sizing is like shoe sizing. It's a nominal set of numbers where one tire maybe slightly larger or smaller than another tire of the same size, even from the same manufacturer and even the same model with a different load range.

Talking about "true" diameters for ground clearance, the only diameter your 4Runner will care about is the rolling radius times two. It's the loaded distance between the ground and the hub centre. If the current 265s and the future 255s have the same loaded radius, then the truck hasn't gained height.

If you feel 10 mm less section width will roll easier, then go for it. I too would be curious about the improvement.

i guess there really is a diffence between dest and revo's . i always here great things about revo but never anything about dest.
