Well after going back and forth about a hundred times on tire size, brand, and type, I settled on the 265/70/R17 Revo's. Below are a few pics.
I've only driven around town (no highway) this afternoon. Here are my first impressions....
The Revo's have a smooth, quiet ride. That was one of my initial concerns going to an AT tire, but those concerns have been put to rest. The ride is a bit more bouncy and "truck like", for lack of a better term. I had them inflated to 38psi which is probably one factor in that. I just let them down to 36psi (which is what I kept the Dunlops at) so I will see if that improves a little. Also, cornering and steering response are a bit sluggish compared to the stock Dunlops. Again, this was to be expected, especially when going to a taller tire. I am probably a little overly observant of everything right now, but overall nothing has changed drastically regarding on-road driving. I expected there would be some compromise going to a larger AT tire, and so far I don't feel like I gave up too much in return.
I definitely like the look of the bigger tires. Some people have said it took a little getting used to, but I was immediately impressed with the beefier look to the truck.
Obviously, it is too early for me to comment on MPG's, but I don't expect it too change much, especially when you factor in the 3% further travel on the larger tires.
I'm taking a trip up in the mountains this weekend with plenty of highway time and hopefully a little 4-wheel'n. I'll let everyone know what my thoughts are after I log a few more miles....
