Revos vs. Cross-Terrains

I'm narrowed down to these two tires, looks like the cost are very similar. Both will be in the low 700's for a set of 4 of the 265/65R17 size. ($202 per tire for the Revos, minus the $75 rebate vs. $182 for the X-terrains) This is Firestone's price on the Revos, with no road hazzard warranty, whereas the X-terrains price includes the warranty, and lifetime balance and rotation. (priced from BJ's wholesale club)

Most of my driving is onroad, on the highway really. I do on occasion go off-roading, but nothing at all extreme. Mostly well laid out trails that you could probably get a beater car up through. (I personally prefer riding an ATV for the rough off-roading)

So I'm leaning towards the X-terrains. My only hold up is I want to be sure that they'll be good for the NorthEast snowy winters, and all the trips I'll be making to ski resorts in Vermont and such. I also want a tire that will handle great, corner well, handle wet and dry roads both, etc. I don't care for excessively noisy tires, although I don't think either of these have noise complaints.

One thing I know for sure, any new tire will be so much better than the Grantek shit that is on the 4-Runner right now!!!!

I put a set of Revo's on my 4Runner about 20k miles ago, and never looked back. I had a set of X Terr. on the ML430 I had before the 4Runner, and they were pretty good in the snow. The combination of the 4Runner and the Revo's is awesome. Last winter, I made it up 10" of unplowed snow, on my steep drive and never spun a wheel. Just locked the center diff. The Merc would spin until the traction control took over. I highly recomend the Revo's.

I'd go with the Revos, especially if you have snowy winters like we do in Canada. I, personaly, have 265/70R17 Revos.

I have no experience with the Revos but from hearing everyone on here and with the reviews on tirerack.com I've decided on the Revos over everything else.

My buddy just bought a 2002 Xterra and it came with new Cross Terrains on it. This past weekend we drove up into the mountains (about 2.5 hours) for some ATVing and it poured the whole drive. We averaged about 70 mph on the highway and he was complaining about hydroplaning so we slowed it down a bit. I was hydroplaning a bit too but I expected nothing less with the crappy Dunflops...

I drove his X offroad once we were there and the CT's seemed to handle it really well. I took it through some thick mud, marshy grass, and lots of rocks and they never skipped a beat.
